Somalilandsun: Somaliland is the most technologically advanced country in the world when it comes to free & fair Democratic elections.
“Not only is your democratization apt but your country is also the first to use biometric iris recognition technology.
This was stated by the Taiwan envoy to Somaliland Amb Allen C. Lou to commissioners of the Somaliland elections commission-NEC in Hargeisa
At the meeting Amb Lou handed over an assortment of ultra -modern Iris Biometrics compatible equipment to the electoral body.
“Democracy is our common language, and freedom is our common objective” said the Taiwanese envoy

The donation composed of 2,500 sets of Iris Biometrics Voter Verification System (IBVVS) worth $2m was received by the chairman , National Elections commission-NEC Eng Abdirashid Mahmud Ali.

In addition NEC was also gifted with a a consignment of Covid-19 materials .

Taiwan supports Somaliland’s Iris Biometrics Voter Verification System (IBVVS) to highlight the democratic development cooperation.
Ambassador 羅震華 (read Allen C Lou witnessed the announcement of 2,500 sets of IBVVS valued US$ 2 million with Mr. Abdirashid Mohamoud Ali, Chairman of National Electoral Commission, Republic of Somaliland on 28th May 2021.
Republic of Somaliland is the first country used the Iris Recognition Technology in its 2017 presidential election.
Today’s introduction of the IBVVS, compatible with the Iris Recognition Technology, is the milestone of the world election history.
Taiwan shared the values of democracy, freedom and rule of law with Somaliland, is proud to cooperate with Somaliland government, especially the National Electoral Commission, to advance transparency, accountability, fairness and trust of the Somaliland election.
The introduction of the pioneering IBVVS technology to register and identify voters which is a testament again of Somaliland’s commitment to its resources in democratic institutions and the rule of law. It is believed that Somaliland will be benefitted from the said mutual cooperation to win more international recognition.
