Turkish Consul General in Hargeisa Somaliland press statement
Somalilandsun – This press release refutes news published in the local press about the Turkish mediation between Somaliland and Somalia.
I, the consular General of the Republic of Turkey in Hargeisa , speaking on behalf of the Turkish government, would like to inform the Somaliland community that the news of Somaliland Sultans and clan leaders participation in the Ankara talks is false and unfounded and has been falsely disseminated by the local press.
The Turkish government has not requested at this stage and will not accept anybodies participation of the talks between Somaliland and Somalia without the consent of the Somaliland government at present or in future.
We would have liked if Somaliland communities didn’t give attention to the news that did not originate from the consulate of the Republic of Turkey .
Again , I hereby convey my warmest greetings to the people of Somaliland and wish them success in their endeavour .
