HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The President has approved the local council elections fixed by the National Election Commission-NEC.

It is now official that much awaited country’s second local council elections will be held on the 28th November 2012 after the president H.E Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo affixed his signature.

A press statement released from the presidency this evening, the president has affixed his signature of approval for the election dates fixed by NEC through a presidential decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-1263/082012

In pursuit of constitutional mandate pertaining approval of elections date

I, the president of the republic of Somaliland

After perusal: of Article 90 of the Constitution of the republic of Somaliland

After perusal: of presidential and local council elections Law #20/2001 Article 8

In Reference: To the decision of the National Elections Commission fixing local council elections date as 28th November 2012

Do hereby affix my signature of approval for the local council elections to be held on 28th November 2012.
