Somalilandsun – The practice and associated headaches Somalilanders used to endure while purchasing goods abroad their transporting, Customs Clearance and Warehousing is no longer an issue.
This development is as a result of the entrance into the Somaliland service industry by KFG logistics a locally owned company that is slowly establishing credentials as the one way conduit for citizens to acquire products from foreign markets without hitches.
According to the Managing Director of KFG Logistics Khaled Muhumed Sheikh during a briefing to Somalilandsun, clients are availed quality products at the lowest possible rates without the hitherto difficulties associated with the separate arrangements for purchase ,transportation ,Customs Clearance and Warehousing as well as distribution nationwide.
“We are the only one stop logistics shop in the entire country where our servicers include procurement, Air/sea/land freighting, customs clearance, warehousing and distribution of imported goods” stated the KFG boss adding that other services offered by his fledgling company include Household and office removals as well as car rentals.
The impetus for the establishment of KFG started during the university days of its managing Director in Malaysia where he complimented his meager funds with fees accrued from organizing tourism activities for Somali and other foreign students. “Returning back home with a desire to start my own business, saw my university experiences drive me towards logistic services and subsequent market research revealed a huge gap in my current area of operations” said Mr. Khaled Muhumed
Revealing that his market research indicated numerous difficulties encountered by locals intent on acquiring goods from abroad among them low quality high priced items, multiple contracts like freighting , clearance and warehousing the KFG boss said their intervention has completely negated the said with all clients serviced left completely satisfied.
So far KFG which is located at the 1st floor Ismail Hindi Building, 2nd Togdheer Avenue, 26th June District in Hargeisa, Somaliland has penetrated the local market having serviced important contracts for both the private and public sectors , individual citizens as well as local and international nongovernmental organizations.
Notable among KFG beneficiaries is the Berbera Oil Terminal based Interstate Testing and Support Services –ITSS .

The ITSS Somaliland branch with mandate to ensure quality fuel is supplied the country through testing to International standards of all imported Common Petroleum products among them Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or Motor Gasoline, Jet a-1 Or Kerosene and Automotive Gas Oil or Diesel launched its Berbera Oil Terminal based laboratory on 13th August, 2015.
Another satisfied client of KFG logistics that Somalilandsun managed to get hold of is the Hargeisa based Oxfam an international Development and Humanitarian organization with an extensive portfolio in Somaliland that stretches decades.
According to Saeed Abdiqadir Hashi closely involved with a KFG office removal Contract for relocating Oxfam offices from former premises in Goljano area to its current ones next to the Hargeisa Cultural Centre and behind UNDP in Hargeisa the professionalism displayed was exceptional.
“During our move KFG logistics managed to handle all our property with the regular damage associated with haphazard handling during removal and transportation of furniture and equipment from one compound to another” informed Saeed Abdiqadir
What most impressed the entire Oxfam team in Somaliland was the offer by KFG to pay for some cups that were broken during the shift process. “We were very impressed by the offer to deduct whatever the cost of broken goods from the KFG contract” revealed an impressed Oxfam staffer.
