HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The ruling part Kulmiye is experiencing the worst situation since it swept into power 3 years ago. The party top brass and the government are jostling for power within and without. This come onto limelight after the party executive committee handpicked a 27 man organizing committee for the party national conference that is to be held by the end of the year.

The organizing committee members split into two; a group of 15 elected the organizing chairman and vice-chairman on their own and not at the party headquarters but somewhere outside the realm of power the other group was sidelined.

This forced the party top officials to intervene and in a strong worded statement accused the cartel of 15 for sowing disunity within the party in a planned meeting between the president H.E. Ahmed Mohammed Mohamud and kulmiye party chairman Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi was postponed in the eleventh hour, purportedly by the president and is expected to be held later.

The chairman suspects that the political lobbying within the part circles is being manipulated by the government. This has caused political temperatures to rise at levels never witnessed before.

In the planned meeting the president and the party chairman are going to meet in closed doors. The only person, who may be with the two leaders as a source close to the presidential palace told our reporters, is the party vice-chairman Mr. Mohammed Kahin Ahmed.

Kulmiye party has seen an increase in those who want to vie for the top party post first is Mr. Muse Bihi Abdi who is the current chairman, followed by the minister of finance Mr. Abdiaziz Samale and now throwing his gloves to ring is the vice president Mr. Abdirahman Ismail Sayli to name a few.
