Somaliland: Governor Ramah Fired in Sahil as Hamarje Makes a Come-back

Governor Ramah fired HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – A regional governor has been fired and two others appointed.

The president H.E Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo has fired the Sahil Regional Governor Mr. Mahmud Ali Suleiman ‘Ramah’.

A press statement released by presidential spokesperson Ahmed Suleiman Duhul revealed the removal of Ramah from the Sahil region governor’s mansion in Berbera town also informed the appointment of Mr. Ali Mohamed Elmi as Ramah’s replacement.

While thanking the outgoing governor for his services to the nation and more specifically Sahil region, the head of state asked Ramah to expedite the smooth transfer of office to his replacement.

At the same time the president has reappointed Mr. Ahmed Omar Abdilahi Hamarje as the Marodi- jeeh regional governor.

Hamarje returns to the Maroodi-jeeh governor’s mansion in Hargeisa after an over six month’s hiatus necessitated by allegations that saw him face corruption charges.

The reappointment comes after Hamarje was found not guilty of the corruption charges that related to misappropriating food items donated to internally displaced persons by a Kuwaiti charity.

In his press statement Presidential spokesperson informed that the head of state made the appointments and sacking of the governors in accordance to a number of laws that include Articles 90 and 110 of the Somaliland constitution
