Puntland Wants Somalia’s Govt to Cease Talks with Somaliland

Somalilandsun- The Puntland province of Somalia has issued a stern warning to the Federal Government not to hold talks with Somaliland without her participation.
This comes following a long speech the Puntland speaker of parliament Hon.Ahmed Ali Hashi read before the Federal Parliament of Somalia.
The Puntland speaker contested that his region claims part of Sool and Sanaag region of Somaliland thus have the right to participate in the talks to fight for their claim to regain the land Somaliland has grabbed from them.
He was speaking during the third sitting of the federal parliament In Mogadishu.
“Puntland is part of Somalia however it has a constitution which vividly states the provinces that make up our region. According to article 7 of our constitution Sool and Sanaag region of Somaliland belongs to us so I Urge the Federal Government not to hold talks with Somaliland without including us in the talks.”
The Puntland speaker went further to say “I want it to be known to the Federal Government of Somalia, the International Community and all those stake holders of peace and security in the region that Puntland has claims to part of Sool and Sanaag region so it has the right to be part of the talks with the Somaliland governments.”
