Somaliland Water Development minister Hussein Ahmed unaware of AWF funds send to Mogadishu

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The government is not privy to find meant to combat efforts of climate change and calamites annunciated with water that were dispersed to Mogadishu this disclosure was made by water resource minister Hussein Ahmed Abdulla when section of press reported that the funding agency African Water Facility (AWF) disbursed 3 million Euros meant to fight effects of climate change and mitigate water associated hazards like floods to authorities in Mogadishu.
” we are not privy to such information, neither is the ministry of national planning , but we shall counter confirm with the funding agency AWF that we have implemented joint projects initially before responding to those allegations” the water minister cleared the air .
Minister Hussein was reacting to media reports to the Effect that the AWF has availed Somalia federal Government Authorities a substantial amount of funds meant to intervene in the Somaliland water sector.
It is believed that if those allegations are true and accurate, then the funder would have done a lot in improving the national water sector but the tenability of Somaliland authorities collecting donor funds from their SFG Colleagues in Mogadishu is nothing but next to impossible.
The African Water Facility (AWF) provides grants and expert technical assistance to implement innovative water projects and raise investment for water projects throughout Africa.
The AWF has an established track record in providing grants for Project Preparation, Water Governance and Water Knowledge, supporting projects designed to increase water, energy and food security, enhance regional cooperation and promote socio-economic growth in Africa.
