Somalilandsun- “We are in Nairobi as part of our party’s intensified activities towards relieving impact of severe drought among citizens in the east of our country”
This was informed by opposition politician Hirsi Haji Ali who is leading a heavy delegation of Wadani party officials to Kenya for meetings with representatives of various foreign governments and international organizations based in the capital Nairobi.
On The objective of the visit and meetings Hirsi Haji Ali said that “Our team composed of senior Wadani party officials is pursuing international support for Drought relief supplies to residents of the Somaliland eastern regions of Toghdeer, Sanaag and Sool hard hit prolonged and recurrent droughts”
The Hirsi Ali led team to Kenya is composed of party candidate for the Somaliland vice presidency Dr Mohamed Ali, as well as senior Wadani Officials Ismail Bubaa, Abdirizaq Khalif and Munir Ahmed Egal respectively.
The former Somaliland presidency minister also revealed that they are linking up with Wadani candidate for the Somaliland presidency in 2017 elections cum soeaker of parliament Abdirahman Irro and leader of the opposition party Abdiqadir Horde.
Abdirahman Irro reportedly left ahead of the Hirsi team courtesy of an Ethiopian visit after official invitation to attend that country’s 11th nationalities day in Addis Ababa while the party chair was in the United Kjngdom on officail party business.
while in Nairobi the opposition Wadani party delegstion is also expected to raise issue with then recent ban on livestock imports by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The livestock ban is viewed negatively in Somaliland where over 50% of citizens derive their livelihoods from pastrolism while the related trade is also a major revenue earner for the entrap coffers.
Sources indicate that the administration of president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo which has already denied the alleged RVP and MFD infections that led to the KSA ban, is in the process of appealing directly to the Monarchy in Riyadh.
In the meantime the ruling Kulmiye party which is said to be keeping a close eye to the Opposition politicans mission in Nairobi that comes in the heels of contested appointment of an emissary to the EU by Wadani party.
Despite none having touched on it our sources in Nairobi and privy to the planned meetings inform that the issue of Somaliland presidential elections slated March 2017 is high on the agenda especially as pertains fears of postponement with the drought as justification.
