HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – “The Country’s Diaspora in North America is most determined to see improvements in their home of origin”
This was stated by the Somaliland Vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail ‘Sayli’ at Egal International Airport during a press briefing upon his return from an official working visit to North America.
During my visit my delegation met with our countrymen and women living in the USA and Canada and also held discussions with members of the US Congress and CEOs’ from big firms with an eye for investing in our country” said VP Sayli.
Among the cities visited by the VP and his delegation in the USA include Washington; Minneapolis, Seattle, and Ohio where many American Somalilanders reside and work, “I held very fruitful discussions” informed Sayli adding that all the meetings concluded with pledges to enhance cooperation between the Diaspora and Government of Somaliland.
The VP who was using a Somaliland Diplomatic passport then visited New York for the successful purpose of securing a Canadian visa and meeting with other American Somalilanders reside in the World Finance capital.
Said he “I extend my thanks to the Canadian Embassy in New York for accepting my country’s diplomatic passport as a valid travel document and subsequent expedited provision of a Visa”

In his Canadian visit the Somaliland Vice president and his delegation visited Canadian Somalilanders resident in both Toronto and Ottawa where the two sides concluded discussions with concurrence on the imperatives of enhanced cooperation in order to foster developments in Somaliland.
VP Sayli who revealed that his itinerary specifying 23rd April as his return home date had to changed after requests for a meeting by Somalilanders leaving in Alberta oil and natural resources rich Canadian province.
“I informed President Silanyo of the Alberta request and upon his graceful acceptance my schedule was changed and thus visited and parleyed fellow countrymen and women in Edmonton, the capital of Alberta”
In Conclusion VP Sayli who thanked the North American Diaspora for warm reception of his delegation that included state minster for education
