Somalilandsun – Hi. My name is Marcus Washington. I live in New York City and for the last four years, I have representing myself in a landmark employment discrimination and human rights case against my former employer, which happens to be the oldest talent agency in Hollywood — the William Morris Agency (now known as William Morris Endeavor Entertainment).
In December 2013, the finder of fact in my case concluded that I proved by a “preponderance of evidence” that William Morris “discriminated against [me] in violation of pertinent federal, state, and local law prohibiting discrimination in employment on the basis of race.” However, due to fraud engaged in by opposing counsel and the American Arbitration Association, the arbitrator was disqualified without explanation, his decision was unlawfully vacated and my case was dismissed with prejudice by someone who had no actual authority to make decisions in my case. It is clear that arbitration was not an appropriate forum for this case and that the merits of my case should have been decided an impartial jury to effectuate the public policy goals of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, but I was deprived of my constitutional and statutory rights because this case has the ability to strengthen the law and challenge the myth of white superiority.
My case has not only forced to learn antidiscrimination law, but it also forced me to learn the truth about Africa and the rich history of our ancestors that spans thousands of years before Christ — facts that are not taught and/or are avoided in our white-controlled educational institutions. In the last 50 years, many of the gains made during the civil rights movement have been eviscerated. And due to the fact that our nation’s first “black President” refuses to discuss the issue of institutionalized, structural and systemic racism in our country, it has only resulted in an increase in blatant and more explicit forms of racism by whites. As indicated by the uprisings in Ferguson, until this issue is confronted, things are only going to get worse for people of African descent living in the United States of America.
Like Marcus Garvey, Malcolm X and many others, I am fascinated by Mother Africa and I want to inquire about the possibility of extending membership in the African Union to the Americas, Caribbean and Europe, so that we can all come together as one and redevelop a pan-African nationalistic consciousness amongst people of African descent who are dispersed throughout the world. We have been exploited beyond belief and those nations and individuals who have committed these atrocious crimes against humanity which have spanned hundreds of years, must finally be held accountable for their actions. Mentally, we are still enslaved and we must now develop an effective strategy that will finally eradicate this evil system of global white supremacy (racism) once and for all. If not…we are doomed.
The time is right. Caribbean countries are suing Europe for reparations, and I believe Africans in Brazil have been trying to do the same. The United Nations has recently called the United States out for its human rights abuses against African Americans [http://newsone.com/3049930/un-committee-racial-discrimination/] and the United Nations has also declared 2015-2024 as the “International Decade for People of African Descent” [http://www.un.org/en/events/observances/decades.shtml]. These are signs from God. We must come together so that we can ensure a better future for all of hue-manity.
