Somaliland: Talo and Tawfiq Committee Leaders Remanded in Custody

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The minister in office of the president Mr. Hirsi Ali Hassan accompanied by a contingent of the dreaded anti –terrorism unit (RRU) used force to arrest two leaders of a local committee Talo and Tawfiq.

They are the chairman of the committee Mr. Hassan Hussein Farah and the finance manager Mr. Yassin Suleiman Mohamed. Eyewitnesses said that the duo was apprehended on the fringeless of hotel Kaah, which is situated on eastern side of Hargeisa, and ushered towards Koodhbuur police station. Attempt to reach the chairman Mr. Hassan Hussein on telephone was futile. Up to now it is not clear why these leaders were targeted, but our sources informed us that in concerns the wrangling in parliament where by the opposition chairman of the national party (WADANI) Hon. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro) who is the house of assembly speaker and his deputy Hon. Bashe from the ruling party are tangled in a tug of war to control the house some members of parliament and some traditional have been bribed as well-placed source speaking on condition of anonymity confirmed that some MPs were openly selling their votes to the Kulmiye party.

The minister of interior Mr. Ali Mohamed Waran-Cade was unavailable to comment on the latest skirmishes to have engulfed parliament. It is believed that the government wants to over throw the opposition speaker of the house.
