HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The Minister of Information Hon. Abdillahi Mohammed Dahir U’kuse has pledged his aim to see to it that the state news agency, Somaliland News Agency (SOLNA), become a formidable professional body.

While opening a training seminar of proficiency for the agency’s staff, the minister said that the effort was in line with the ministerial policy reached earlier in the year to upgrade the skills of the reporters.
He said that as an ongoing process, several such trainings would be held not only for the public media staffers but also for those in the private sector too.
Hon. Ukuse said that amongst the tutors would be big names especially those veteran BBC staff such as Awke, Hereri, Hagar, S.A Muse, Duale etc.
He said that it was imperative that the training helps to uplift the standards in the profession such that ethics, etiquettes and associated conducts were upheld.
He urged the participants to make good use of whatever tools of the trade they earn and put them into practice.
Also present were the DG of the Ministry Mohammed Aden Ilka’asse and the Manager of the SLNTV Khadar Ali Gaas.
