Somaliland: Sanag Chapter of SOLA Commends Reforms in the Justice, Law & Order Sectors.

HARGEISA: (Somalilandsun) – Sanag regional chapter of Somaliland Lawyer Association (SOLA) has elaborated in details what the chapter has achieved in the last one in reforming areas of justice, prison facilities, and independence of judiciary, competence in the office of Attorney General in prosecution and provision of legal aid services to peasant litigants with no Advocates’ fee.

The chapter chairman Mr. Ali Said Jama while speaking to the media highlighted that the region legal aid office offered free legal representation in 194 cases in different areas of law with all of them being determined amidst 41 accused persons who are remanded still in 7 regional prison facilities.

“None of the 41 accused persons have been in custody more than the stipulated time of incarcerations except 1 remanded for murder whose case is still pending & we have deliberated his issue with the presiding Judge as well as the prosecution department” said Mr. Jama adding, “that reforms in the justice system are highly commended due to improved working relation & better cohesion within the player in the legal industry”.

The regional Advocate boss related these developments to balanced rapport between Lawyers, prosecutors, custodial corps & magistrate and judges that are now serving an informed citizenry than few years ago.
