Education minister Prof Gedoole resigns to contest Kulmiye party slot as VP candidate in Somaliland elections

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The forthcoming Kulmiye ruling party election for standard bearers in the Somaliland presidential elections of March 2017 has once again bruised the government.

This follows the resignation of Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism, Ahmed Abdi Kahin and education minister Prof Farah Elmi Gedoole just a few days after a similar move by 7 colleagues though for different reasons.

While the heavyweights led by former minister of the presidency resigned due to conflict emanating from factions that have cropped up in the run-up to the 10th November election for Kulmiye party presidential candidates in 2017 national elections the two latest resignations though related to the selection are for different reasons.

While making his departure announcement the outgoing Minister of Youth, Sports and Tourism, Ahmed Abdi Kahin who acknowledged existence of a few grievances revealed that he was quitting the cabinet thus filled the parliamentary seat vacated by former MP Ali Hasan Mohamed ‘Ali Marehan’ who was appointed as Minster of public works and housing as replacement for resigned Abdirizaq Khalif Ahmed

As for Prof Gedoole who assumed the Education docket earlier in the year from his former docket at the Agriculture ministry reasons related to his ambitions for the office of Somaliland Vice president through a Kulmiye party ticket
