GAROWE (Somalilandsun) – The Puntland regional administration has made a big about turn as pertains to its decades long bitterness against Somaliland.

The president of the Somalia administrative region of Puntland Abdirahman Mohamed Farole has revealed that his government desires to establish contact with Somaliland as a prelude to peace in the eastern parts of the country.

In a lengthily address to his newly established political party, the first in Puntland, President Farole informed his supporters that peacefull co-existence with the republic of somalialand was the only option for his administrative region that he wants to separate from Somalia if the government in Mogadishu continues to diverge from stipulations of the federal constitution.

President Farole who has been a thorn in the flesh of Somaliland said that talks already initiated will deal with establishing parameters for peace in areas bordering the two countries.

Said he, “After establishing peace then we shall most probably embark on talks about the sovereignty of Somaliland which we hope shall most likely favour in lieu of ongoing disillusions by Puntland on activities undertaken in Mogadishu as related to the federal constitution.

According to reporter Abdirizaq Mohamed of Horseed Media, Farole also said that Puntland’s democratization and election process needs to learn from the over ten years experience of Somaliland in such matters.

Puntland is expected to hold its first democratic elections this year a number of political parties have already been registered thus try to wrest political power democratic from Strongman Farole and his deputy General Abdisamed Ali Shire who have clung to power long after the expiry of their mandate.

The warning to Mogadishu and subsequent revelations of imminent reconciliation talks with Somaliland by the hardliner unionist Farole is sweet music in Hargeisa and foul broth for Mogadishu.

If Puntland stands true to its desire for peacefull co-existence around the common Somaliland-Somalia border then the Khatumo secessionists are about to be made completely redundant owing to the fact that they and they mischief predecessors have always received their backing from Farole

Somaliland officials at regional and national levels are yet to confirm or deny the Farole peace talks revelation and similarly Somalia authorities have not commented on the threats of secession by Puntland which is a backbone of the remnants of what used to be greater Somalia and now fragmented to several self administering regions backed by different neighboring governments.
