Somaliland: Prospective Mayor Appalled by Conditions in Nasa Hablood

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Residents of Nasa Hablood are living in deplorable conditions that require urgent corrective measures.

Three villages in Nasa Hablood area of Hargeisa were supplied with water by Eng Yusuf Warsame Saeed who is a Kulmiye party candidate vying for a seat in the city municipality where he hopes to clinch the very coveted office of mayor.

The Engineer who visited the area upon invitation by village elders distributed six water tanks to each of the villages whom he promising further supplies like sugar and wheat flour which the elders informed was in acute shortage.

While asking the residents to vote for him during the forthcoming local council elections, The prospective mayor said that one of his main agenda of office shall be to ensure that all residents of especially those in the peri-urban areas of Hargeisa received adequate and safe drinking water.

Eng Yusuf Warsame further revealed that he will strive to implement various strategies that are geared towards availing much necessary income generating funds and formal employment as a prelude to alleviating poverty and reduce illegal immigration of the young and educated.

“Since my personal coffers cannot do much I urge you to vote me into office thus utilize my skills and municipality revenue for the betterment of our livelihoods” said the Engineer.

The residents who included the elderly and youths thanked the engineer and promised their whole-hearted support also urged him not to forget his campaign pledges once in office as done by many others before him.

Eng Yusuf is among the 25 candidates sponsored by the ruling Kulmiye party to vie for seats at the city’s municipality during local council elections that have attracted other six political groups with a similar number of candidates.

The country’s second ever local council elections are slated for 28 November 2012
