Somaliland: Opposition Parties’ Call on Elections to be Held on time

• Opposition parties call for making unity government, if elections not held on time.

Hargeisa (Somalilandsun) – Somaliland Opposition Parties UCID and WADDANI have strongly opposed of making tenure extension for the current government after 26 June, as they urge of making unity government if government fails to hold election on time.

Both chairmen of WADANI and UCID Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi (Irro) and Feisal Ali Warabe have stressed that they won’t accept any tenure extension made for Silanyo led government after 26 June.
They called up on the government and house of elders, in any circumstance not to prepare any proposal concerning term extension for the incumbent administration. Opposition parties in the meantime urged international community and stakeholders to hold the government to account if government failed to hold elections on time.
