Somaliland 1st Lady Amina Weris urges equal education opportunities for boys and girls

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Children at the Hargeisa Orphanage were hosts to festivities marking the African Child Day 2014.
The function officiated by the Somaliland 1st lady Amina Weris had high level participants among them minister of finance Abdiaziz Samale, Education minister Zamzam Abdi Aden and deputy social affairs minister among others.
Addressing the congregation the Hargeisa orphanage matron Ms Asha Mahmud Qalib said it was an honour for the institution to have been availed the opportunity to host the event.


1st lady Amina Weris who prevailed upon the country to treat children appropriately especially as pertains to equal education opportunities for boys and girls also revealed that the government of President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo is committed to the provision of free education to all children in Somaliland.

According to UNICEF by 2050, 1 out of 3 children in the world will be African,
but right now Africa’s children face enormous challenges getting quality education. The world’s future depends on strengthening education in Africa today.
