Somaliland: Minister of Aviation Reveals Development Planning Of the Country Airports

Hargeisa: (Somalilandsun) The country minister of aviation Hon. Mohamud Hashi Abdi after his duty of monitoring and evaluation in Burao airport which construction for its planned expansion project is going on released a press statement in his office, Hargeisa.

The minister said that the project is a success hence it a large portion of land that belonged to the airport and had been invaded by squatters illegally has been recovered.

In the media briefing the minister stated that the airport in Burao had been deleted from the ICAO world airports records after it was looted stripy.

He added that the government started the battle of relocating the vast looted lands that was legally part of Burao airport.

The minister said that the project has also succeeded in the construction of a 9 km perimeter wall of which 4.5 km is a bricked concrete wall and the other 4.5 km is barbed wire which ICAO have approved

The aviation minister said that the next project is the construction of a 3 km runway that will commence soon.

He concluded by saying that the Hargeisa and Berbera airports respectively pass the international airports standard and the government will to it that the other remaining ones follow the suit.
