HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Locally trained veterinarians have joined the civil service after successfully passing Civil Service Commission-CSC Examination.

Of 16 veterinary doctors shortlisted from a large list, eight successfully passed their examination held at the CSC hall in Hargeisa.
The CSC Chairperson Nuuh Sheikh Muse Duale who briefed the media after the recruitment exercise said that :Though the 16 applicants shortlisted were of desired quality the ministry of livestock development had requested for eight doctors only to be deployed all over Somaliland.
The CSC boss also infirmed that 17 veterinary extension officers were also recruited, who together with the eight Doctors are now officially registered by the CSC as Civil Servants seconded to the ministry of livestock.
Adding that CSC had received from the livestock ministry a request for various cadres of employees mostly administrative, the imperatives of animal husbandry prompted the prioritization of the veterinarians.
While past recruitments for the livestock sector was mainly from foreign trained the advent of veterinary trained doctors by Burao University and diploma level skilled by Sheikh Veterinary School has reversed the trend.
