Somaliland: Late General Elmi Kabaal Laid to Rest in Borame

BORAME (Somalilandsun) – The Awdal regional capital of Borame came to a standstill as hundreds of citizens from various parts of Somaliland took part in the burial of late General Elmi Roble Furee ‘Elmi Kabaal’
The late Elmi Kabaal’ whose body was transported from Italy where he had died at a hospital in Rome was given a state burial next to his mother’s grave in Borame in the presence of hundreds of citizens among them senior political, government and traditional leadership figures.
The deceased who was an armed forces general died after a prolonged ailment was an Awdal region tradition leader with the title of Sultan, a rank he attained after retiring from duty as the national police commander.

He was given a state burial organized by a committee appointed by President Silanyo led by Interior minister Mohamed Ali Waran’ade and including the national police commander Brigadier Abdilahi Fadal Iman and former Somaliland vice president Abdirahman Turwa among other notables.
Dignitaries who had accompanied the body of late Gen Elmi Kabaal from Hargeisa and present at the burial included government ministers, traditional leaders and both ruling party and opposition party politicians most notable being the speaker of the national assembly and leader of opposition party Wadani Abdirahman Irro.
