Somalilandsun -Hargeisa city councilor, Mustafe Osman Dahir, who was sentenced to death by Hargeisa’s regional court after being convicted of killing his friend, has resigned from the city council.
Councilor Mustapha who has been behind bars since May last year for the killing of his neighbor and friend Abdirashid Adan Warsame in Hargeisa has submitted his resignation letter to the city council while in prison cell in Hargeisa’s central prison,
The resignation letter obtained by Somaliland Monitor, the councilor said “beginning today (May 10 2014) I would like to inform you that I have resigned my position in the city council”.
The departure of the detained councilor leaves a vacancy in the city council which will be filled by his runner up, Saed Haji Ahmed Afqaloc in UMADDA political association.
Councillor Mustafe Osman was elected from UMADDA political association, one of the political associations who failed to qualify as a political party during local elections in 2012.
