GAMBADA (Somalilandsun) – A planned ambush on a military camp in Gambada has failed to materialize.

The army has foiled an ambush on their base in Gambada village planned by militias aligned to the Khatumo secessionists in Sool region.

The army managed to foil the attack through intelligence received from local residents thus a pre-emptive strike on the militias by the army before they could embark on their planned midnight attack on the base.

The army’s pre-emptive attack took place at the militias rallying point near the town of Tukaraq where an assortment of ordnance was captured from the militias.

In the recent past the army has managed to inflict heavy blows on Khatumoists mostly as a result of the President Silanyo-Minister Hagaltosie Buhodle peace accord that has seen Sool region return to the fold.

According to Ramaasnews website reports the foiled ambush was planned to occur during the first anniversary of the proclamation of the Khatumo state whose proponents want to create a Somali regional state from territory under the jurisdiction of the republic of Somaliland.
