HARGEISA (Somaliland sun) – The over five years reign of Hirsi Haji Ali as Somaliland presidency minister has come to an end.

This follows an official handover at the presidency where Hirsi Haji Ali handed over the portfolio to his successor Mahmud Abdi Hashi who shifts from the aviation and air transport in the same capacity.

“You are very lucky for I am handing over a fully functional ministry as opposed to my ascension in which I had the onerous task of creating the said from scratch” said the former minister who resigned from the cabinet of president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo recently.

Since his resignation friend and foe alike have praised the drive of nation building portrayed by Hirsi Haji Ali before his fallout with the president due to differences over support to Muse Behi as official and only nominee as ruling Kulmiye party as Somaliland presidential candidate in elections slated for March 2017.

Analyst say that Mahmud Hashi an abrasive leader will have difficulties filling the shoes of his predecessor Hirsi a cool operative whose clear headiness is credited with the achievements garnered by the Silanyo administration.

The function was attended by a large number of officials that included Information minister Abdilahi Ukuse, minister of socials affairs Ali Sandule (formerly eastern region) among others.
