TALEEH (Somalilandsun) – Residents of Taleeh district in Sool region of Somaliland are hosts to a large government delegation which is the first of its kind to visit the area from the authorities in Hargeisa for two decades.
Singing and dancing in joy hundreds Taleeh of residents came out in the morning to receive the government team led by presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali and composed of Interior minister Ali Mohamed Waran’ade, Minister of Water development, Minister of Eastern Regions peace and dev Ali Sandule, minister of Youth and sports, MPs Ali Koore and Abdiqadir Indo-Indio among other senior officials in addition to the Somaliland army, police and prisons service commanders.
According to the team leader Minister Hirsi Haji Ali the objective of the delegation’s visit is to establish public administration and start service profusion to the long suffering residents of Taleeh district who were recently emancipated from the clutches of the Khatumo secession movement by the National army.
“While we are establishing government structures my delegation together with community leaders shall be distributing emergency relief items donated by the Somaliland president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo” said Hirsi

The assorted relief items that were carted from Hargeisa and Berbera that are over 15,000 tons include foodstuffs like rice, flour, sugar , cooking fats etc as well as blankets ,mosquito nets and temporary shelters for the displaced among others.
Negating the issue of Taleeh being an area in dispute owing to claims by the Somalia administrative region of Puntland Minister Hirsi said that Taleeh and all other areas in Sool and the eastern parts of Sanaag region are solely under the administrative jurisdiction of Somaliland as established by century’s old demarcation.
Since Somaliland reclaimed its self-rule following the collapse of union with Somalia in 1991 Taleeh district and some other areas in Sool region have been devoid of public services provided by the government of Somaliland owing to existence of clan militias owing allegiance to the now crashed Khatumo secession that fronts the interests of Puntland in the area.
