HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The immediate deputy minister of interior in charge of Security Abdilahi Abokor has been placed under police custody.

This was confirmed by the interior minister Ali Mohamed Waran’ade who attributes the arrest of his former deputy to issues relisted to Somaliland National security.
Mr. Abokor was arrested in his Hargeisa family residence at around 1am on Thursday night by members of the crack Rapid Reaction Unit-RRU of the Somaliland police during a raid that ensued with injuries to a number of Abokor’s guards.
Since he was fired as deputy interior minister a month ago Mr. Abokor has had scraps with the administration of his former boss president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo latest being his allegations that senior members of government are aligned with Islamist organizations.
Having aligned himself with the Bihi faction which is challenging president Silanyo as the ruling party’s presidential candidate during elections slated for 2015 the embattled Abokor has also issued public threats of anarchy creation
Despite his drastic about turn from die hard supporter to opponent of president Silanyo, Abokor who left office tainted by alleged financing of a twice botched MPs assassination and the scandal of the arrested and tortured Ethiopian security officials, his assertions unsupported by evidence as pertains government links to Islamist organizations do not hold water.
The arrest of Abokor though yet to be officially connected comes on the second night that the capital city has been rocked by explosions from devices identified by police as Shaani.
that said and the arrest done with citizens are expecting the government to do the right thing and arraigned in court to answer charges rather than making under the table deals.
