Somaliland: Exuberant Citizens Nationwide Celebrate Eid in Style

As President Silanyo extends wishes of good tidings to Somalilanders and Muslims at large after prayers at the Hargeisa main Mosque while his subordinates join residents at public gardens of all major towns of the country.

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – “The prevalent peace and security in the country, that affords us the opportunity to congregate for prayers and other public activities in large numbers without fear is as a result of the determination and resilience of Somaliland citizens”

This was stated by the president of Somaliland Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo at the Masjid Jama’a in Hargeisa where he joined thousands of residents Eid-Ul-Adha prayers.

The president’s sentiment as well as tiding of good wishes for health and prosperity extended to the nation and Muslims around the globe were simultaneously passed to residents of all the country’s regions by government ministers whom the head of state had dispatched as personal representatives.

Apart from several government officials, service commanders and senior functionaries of the ruling Kulmiye party the entourage of president Silanyo at the Masjid Jama included the visiting delegation from the Somali Zone five regional administration of Ethiopia, namely the executive officer of the Somali people democratic party (SPDE) of Ethiopia Mr. Ahmed Mohamed Shukri and includes Minister of Agriculture and livestock development Mr. Abdirizaq Ali Bashe, Presidential advisor Abdirizaq Botaan and minister at large Mr. Mohammed Farah were received by a Somaliland delegation led by Minister of Information Mr. Abdilahi Mohammed Dahir.

In Borame town in the west of the country, residents Awdal region were joined for prayers and subsequent festivities by former president Dahir Rayale Kahin and the ministers of Livestock development and agriculture Dr Abdi Aw Dahir and Prof Aden Elmi Geedole as well as the deputy information minister Abdiwahid Abdirahman.

In Gabile residents, local government and regional authorities were the hosts to the minister of youth, Sports and Tourism Ali Saeed Raygal who represented his boss president Silanyo in partaking festivities.

The port city of Berbera and Sahil region was home to the minister of planning Dr Saad Ali shire and his Aviation and Air transport colleague Mahmud Abdi Hashi while justice minister was the supreme representative in Burao town where thousands of Toghdeer region congregated for Eid prayers.

Leading a ministerial delegation with double duties in Sanaag region composed of defence minister Ahmed Haji Adami, Water development minister , was the presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali not only representing the head of state in celebrating Eid festivities with residents in the regional capital Erigavo but putting final touches to fund raising for the Burao Erigavo construction project.
