Somalilandsun – Following a two day training symposium for the Somali Police organized by UNSOM, EUCAP Nestor was one of the signatories to a resolution on training, including the creation of the ‘Police Professional Development Board’. The Board has been tasked with establishing and maintaining common standards in all areas of Police Training across Somalia. EUCAP Nestor in partnership with UNODC will be in the lead to support training for the Maritime Police and Port Police.
Coordination of international support related to training will be ensured by the Police Project Coordination Cell (PPCC) which includes permanent representatives from the Somali Police, AMISOM, UNSOM, EUCAP Nestor and several UN-agencies.

EUCAP Nestor is a civilian EU mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy established to Somalia’s capacity to ensure maritime security and in particular to fight piracy.
