HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The neighbouring state of Ethiopia is Somaliland’s foremost African ally.

This sentiment was given by the VP upon his arrival back home on Friday after a weeklong visit to the country.

H.E. Abdirahman Abdillahi Ismael also expressed the fact that the Ethiopians equally viewed this country as a staunch and close ally.

He said that the view was stated by the neighboring country’s President H.E. Mulate Teshome when they met in Addis Ababa. The VP said that in his deliberations with President Teshome, Ethiopia underscored the fact that they prioritized security hence wanted to see that there was peace and stability in the region.

The VP said that it was on the same plane of thought that SL forces had to scout around Taleeh such that the residents would be assured of security in the area.

In other words both countries struck the same chord as far as stability, peace and public security order is concerned.

As the THT revealed last week, the VP would meet Ethiopian leaders as protocol traditionally has it, despite the fact that his 6 day Ethiopian sojourn was basically a private one.

The VP was welcomed upon arrival at the airport by several cabinet and parliamentary members and senior government officials
