BORAME (Somalilandsun) – Apples become the second plant to be successfully introduced into the country’s agricultural sector.
This was revealed by the Somaliland minister of Agriculture Prof Farah Muhumed Elmi ‘Gedoole’ while displaying the successful growth of an apple growing test project in his farm in Borame.
“After the successful introduction of Rice growing in the country I can confirm that Apples are now going into full planting” said Prof Gedoole
The Apple seeds used in the test project were brought from Yemen a country that has similar environment with Somaliland.
While Rice and apples are on a full planting gear now thence help national economic growth through reduced costs of imports the testing of Dates planting is still ongoing in Sahil region.
