Program Manager – SOMALILAND Start and duration: 1 March 2013 or earlier, minimum 3 months up to 1 year, extension negotiable Profile: The Program Manager • carries responsibility and oversight of relief, rehabilitation and risk reduction projects with displaced populations in Hargeisa, as well as in rural villages of Somaliland. Activities may include livestock distribution, water storage infrastructure and health education • carries primary responsibility for its funding and implementation • continually assesses current and potential needs of IDP and other vulnerable populations and participates in agencies/government meetings • provides leadership and direction to program staff to build capacity and empower them through training • has prime responsibility in obtaining funding for projects with support of program coordinator and public fundraising capacities at the international office • ensures that donor requirements are met on time and within budget, writes analytical program reports and situation reports for Country Director, International Office and others • looks for a culturally sensitive way for project implementation • effectively manages money and time • ensures proper and timely implementation and usage of the accounting system and monitors all financial expenditures against budget, writing financial reports according to organizational and donor regulations and ensures financial reports • actively monitors the security situation and ensures appropriate adjustments in response to it We are looking for a visionary leader who can combine strong business disciplines with inspirational spiritual leadership skills in line with our Christian values and ethos. Work place and condition: The Program Manager will be based in Hargeisa, Somaliland as part of a team of both international and national staff. Living standards are simple, working primarily in the office with occasional field trips in remote areas. The work is challenged by unreliable logistics and communication structures. Work schedule is 5 days a week from Sunday to Thursday. The security situation is currently acceptable though political situation is unstable.

What applicant offer: Bachelor’s Degree, postgraduate training in relief or development practice desired, at least 3 year experience in management, excellent English and willingness to learn Somali, proficient with MS Office Programs, experience in training others desired, passionate about serving the poor, appreciation of teamwork, willingness to share information, good listener and patience in dealing with inexperienced staff, effective work and time management and ability to cope with a fast changing environment, good document writing skills, passion for management, committed to consultative leadership, ability to train others.
