ERIGAVO (Somalilandsun) – The ministry of finance is satisfied with revenue collection in Sanaag region where residents are supportive of government activities.
This was informed by the Somaliland deputy finance minister Ahmed Nuur (shair) during a briefing to somalilandsun, upon return from an inspection tour of the Country’s Eastern region accompanied by senior officers among them the director of Internal audit Khadar Mohamed Abdi and deputy director Customs Ahmed Abdi.
Revealing that the finance ministry has established an Inland Revenue office in El-Afweine district the minister Ahmed Nuur said the new office is being temporary manned by staff seconded from the regional coordinator in Erigavo, the Sanaag regional capital pending dispatch of permanent personnel from Hargeisa.
Commending Sanaag residents, residents and local council administrations for the concerted support extended enhanced revenue collection campaigns by the central government the deputy finance minister promised a slice return to the area in form of development projects.
The finance ministry inspection team had during its four days tour of Sanaag region with the objective of enhancing revenue collection inspected related facilities at Erigavo, Mayd and Shalao where they also parleyed various leaders including the regional governor and mayors of the towns.
As Finance minister ZamZam Abdi Aden has intensified revenue collection in SomalilandSince ascension of Ms. ZamZam Abdi Aden as Finance minister earlier in the year revenue collection activities have been institutionalized in the country’s eastern regions of Sanaag and Sool formerly non-existent.
