HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – Mayor of Hargeisa Municipal Council joined painstakingly aggressive residents of Jigjiga-Yar neighborhood in a function marking the conclusion of road construction fundraise by breaking the initial stone in commencement of much yearned road uplift that most of the city’s neighborhoods deserve.
Mr. Abdirahman Mohamud Aideed (Solteco) officiated the grounding of construction work of Jigjiga-Yar road dubbed ‘Part 2’ covering a distance of 1.1 KMS & stretching from the national head office of the ruling party Kulmiye till Sunshine Secondary School within Ibrahim Kodbur District of Hargeisa.
Speaking at the ground breaking function Mr. Abdirahman Solteco praised the area locals for a job done well & called other city dwellers to emulate their hard work which saw them raising $ 45,000 out of the total $ 60,000 required for the completion of the exercise with the remaining $15,000 provided by Hargeisa local authority in a joint partnership of cost sharing contributed by public & private sectors-a well established norm operating in Local Governments of major world cities.
The city’s Mayor while commending the Jigjiga-Yar people for the fundraising efforts, observed the exercise to have consumed time before stressing on the financial constraints facing the council in providing social amenities to its population while urging other parts of the city to emulate such initiatives & the council merely filling minimal gap left upon the generous input of the stakeholders.
