Somaliland: Chechens Deliver 240 tons of Russian Drought Relief Supplies

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) –The long sought for relations with the Russian Federation is finally at hand.
This follows the delivery of Russian donated drought relief supplies by a delegation composed of politicians from Chechnya an Islamic administrative region of Russia who have been in the country for over a week.
The Chechen delegation which is led by Ziyad Sabsabi Member of the Group Deputy and Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Foreign Affairs. Representative of the legislative (representative) body of the Chechen Republic (Russian Federation) were hosted at President Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo as part of their farewell.
At Hargeisa presidency meeting the Somaliland head of state thanked the Chechens and to an extend the Russian federation for the donation which shall go a long way in alleviating difficulties encountered by numerous citizens courtesy of severe drought engulfing the country.
Thanking the Chechens president Silanyo also extended greetings to the president of the Chechnya administration for whom together with the spouse of late president Akhmad Kadyrov M/s Eyman Kadyrov that included a plague embossed with the map of Somaliland.
According Ziyad Sabsabi the donation was possible courtesy of the Chechnya aid fund dubbed Akhmad Kadyrov in honour of the late Chechen president who is attributed to peaceful co-existence in the Islamic administrative region of Russia.
Revealing that he had ample opportunity to observe firsthand the effects of the prolonged droughts on ordinary citizens of Somaliland Ziyad Sabsabi promised to lobby the Chechen administration and the Russian Federal government for more drought relief supplies.
In conclusion the Russian legislature also pledged to embark on relentless campaign for the recognition of Somaliland by the Russian Government in Moscow.
During their stay in Somaliland where they visited various areas hard hit by drought the Chechen team was accompanied by the Somaliland minister of religious affairs.
