Somaliland: Caritas Facilitates Training for Sanitation TOTs

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – “A large amount of public health sectors resources are utilized on ailments that could easily be avoided”

This was revealed by the minister of health Dr Hussein Muhumed “Hussein Hog” while opening a Sanitation training workshop in Hargeisa.

The workshop which is sponsored by the European Union and jointly implemented by Caritas Luxembourg and the ministry of health has the objective of availing the country with skilled Sanitation experts.

The 20 participants of the workshop who are to be trained as Sanitation trainer of trainers-TOTs are expected to provide similar skills to their various duty stations in the country.

Revisiting the heavy cost borne by his ministry while treating sanitation related sickness Dr Hussein Hog said that proper knowledge of sanitation issues would go a long way in avoiding unavoidable communicable disease.

Said he, “The proximity of poor sanitations is equivalent to poor health”

According to an officer from Caritas Mr. Abi Aden the trainees are expected to fully conversant with issues related to basic concepts of proper public sanitation at the end of the five days training.

Revealing that the lengthily partnership between the ministry of health and Caritas has achieved a lot of success Mr. Aden said that his organization is committed to the enhancement of the cooperation for the good of the citizens of Somaliland.
