Somaliland: Buhodle Administration Takes over Despite Khatuumoist Threats

BUHODLE (Somalilandsun) – The government of Somaliland is firmly in control of the entire Buhodle region.

This development comes after newly appointed regional governor and local council chief started duties in their respective offices.

The first official business undertaken by Governor Mohamed Mahmoud Harir ‘Gadweine’ and Mayor Osman Mohamed Yusuf ‘Galinwad’ was a joint meeting with elders that took place at the governor’s office.

The president, H.E Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo following the signing of a peace accord between the government and the commander of Sool, Saanag & Cayn (Ain) militias Suleiman Isse Ahmed “Hagaltosie in Hargeisa, appointed the two officials recently.

During the meeting where threats from Khatuumoist secessionist were termed as non-effective, the two sides vowed their commitment to uphold the peace accord

The Buhodle administrators and elders who concurred on the imperative need to avail residents maximum benefits from the central government in Hargeisa, further agreed to cooperate as pertains to the enhancement of local livelihoods, economy and security.

Reliable sources privy to the in-camera meeting outcome reveal that the two sides agreed to deter any anti-Somaliland activities by Khatuumoist at all costs.

While the meeting was in accord in all aspects one aspect remains grey, as concerns the situation surrounding a number of trucks hijacked by Buhodle militias before the advent of the peace accord. The trucks are still in the hands of the hijackers.

Following this development, the Somaliland flag is flying high in Buhodle despite threats by Khatuumoist in which they vowed that the SL flag would fly in Buhodle over their dead bodies.
