MOGADISHU (Somalilandsun) – The Constitutional making process of the Somalia Federal Government-SFG is in jeopardy
This malady follows the resignation of Asho Gelle as Chairwoman of Somalia’s Independent Constitution Review & Implementation Commission citing among many reasons being the meddling of interested parties with divergent interests but devoid of knowledge on what a constitution is and meaning for a country.
Asho Gelle Dirie is a Somali politician and civil society activist. From 2005 to 2012, she served as the Minister of Women Development and Family Affairs of the autonomous Puntland regional state in northeastern Somalia.
She is also the founder and Executive Director of The Asha Gelle Foundation (TAG Foundation). As of 2014, she served as the Chairperson of the federal Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission until her resignation on the 6th May 2015

Meanwhile the Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud said the nation is on track to hold elections in 2016 with its campaign against al-Shabaab militants helping build a secure environment for the vote.
“I believe that free and fair elections will take place in the country and this is the reality on the ground,” Mohamoud said Wednesday in an address broadcast on state television, adding that the government has no intention of delaying the polling and thereby extending his term in office.
