Somaliland: Arrival of Diplomatic Mission in Hargeisa

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – A delegation of Diplomats to Somalia & Somaliland based in Nairobi from Australia, Holland & Norway have arrived in Hargeisa to deliberate on how to extend advisory support to Somaliland’s authorities within the sectors that they jointly engage the Hargeisa administration.

Ambassadors to Somali/Somaliland from Australia, Holland & Norway were accompanied by senior officials of United Nation Office of Drugs & Crime (UNDC) whose primary aim is to reinforce their commitments & co-operation with Somaliland in areas of piracy & fighting drug abuse, menace that are of international concern.

The Minster for Justice & Judicial Affairs Hon. Hussein Ahmed Aideed upon receiving the diplomats revealed that the members of the delegation would look on how to cooperate in uplifting justice law & order sectors and would proceed to their first stop at Mandera Maximum Prison where they are involved in projects aimed at reforming correctional facilities in the country while at the same time coming up with new projects in the sectors.

The Somaliland/Somalia Ambassador Mr. David Shrew disclosed that the delegation will be in the country for three days and have enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere where people traverse their business without imminent security threats. Ambassador David accentuated Somaliland’s role in battling piracy along its coastal line coupled with prosecuting pirates from other nationalities in their Courts.
