Somaliland: Accident Claims 16 Youthful Landers in Libya

MISRATA (Somalilandsun) – A number of citizens have lost their lives in the Libyan city of Misrata.

The death of 16 youthful Somalilanders occurred after a fatal car accident involving the vehicle they were travelling in together with others from Somalia, Ethiopia and Eritrea near the Libyan city of Misrata.

According to reports by Libyan officials the deaths of the sixteen Somalilanders and others who received severe injuries were among 120 illegal immigrants from the four Horn of Africa countries on their way to Europe in the hands of human traffickers.

This is the first time for the country to lose a large number of its citizens engaged in illegal immigration not to mention that most were in their early twenties.

The dead who include 10 boys and 6 girls mostly from Burao, Hargeisa and Borame have been identified as: (not complete)

13. Saeed Ahmed and

14. Ahmed Kheyr.
