Somaliland: A Year after Ban, Kingston Somali Community Brainstorm Effects of Khat

Somalilandsun – One-year since khat was classified as C controlled drug in the United Kingdom the Metropolitan Police has issued a total of 110 Khat Warnings and 16 Penalty Notices for Disorder (PNDs).
From the above 55 offenders mostly Britons of Somali origin have been arrested, 4 Cautioned, and 6 Charged of whom some have already appeared at court or are wanted after absconding.

These facts and others related to the negative Social and Health effects and legal implications of the herbal stimulant came to light following a Khat health hazard awareness Presentation by Mohamed Ali during a Kingston Somali Community Association organized session at Guild Hall in The Royal Borough of Kingston Upon Thames on the 22nd of July 2015
KSCA is a voluntary organization formed in Dec. 2006 by group of immigrants from Somalia who live in the Royal Borough of Kingston and it’s surrounding areas. The organization provides voluntary service to over 200 members of the Somali community that live in the Royal Borough of Kingston
