Libyans find themselves sheperdless since the assasination of strongman Muamar Gaddafi

Somalilandsun – In October 2011, rebels declared Libya officially “liberated” from Colonel Muammar Gaddafi’s 41-year rule. Since then there have been elections and Libya is in the process of drafting a new constitution, but the new government is struggling to assert its authority across the country and militias still hold power.
The worst fighting since the ousting of Gaddafi broke out in July 2014 in the capital Tripoli and Benghazi city. A militia alliance, which had played a major role in the revolution, seized control of the capital in August, forcing the government and newly-elected parliament to move to Tobruk.
The economy was severely hit when rebels pushing for self-rule in the east took control of four oil ports for about a year, before handing them back to the government in 2014.
