HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – A year's stock of assorted printing materials has been procured by the state printing agency.

According to the Manager of the State Printing Agency-SPA Mr. Abdilahi Mohamed Jama, the materials is meant to alleviate constant needs for replenishment which slow down fulfillment of customer contracts, Said he, "From new henceforth we assure our customers in all corners of the country that delivery of printed materials shall be prompt"

The manager who assumed duties at the SPA a few months ago, following the appointment of his predecessor Ali Saeed Raygal as Youth, Sports and Culture minister, said that the over 1 ton of material which is sufficient for one year that was paid in cash indicates that the state printer is operating profitably.

During a press briefing in his offices at the SPA compound in Hargeisa, the SPA thanked the president H.E Ahmed Mahmoud Silanyo for a recent presidential circular that directed that all public institutions utilize the SPA for printing needs, "This presidential directive has ensued with increased printing orders from government agencies nationwide".

Manager Abdilahi Mohamed Jama said that, the delivery of the one year stock was a personal pleasure having assumed duties at the state printers 90 days ago. He informed that the availability of the stock will enable him concentrate on other aspects of developments thus enhance service provision.

The SPA boss further informed that working hours have been changed from two shifts to one straight shift of 8 hours, with working starting at 7am sharp and ending at 2pm on the dot. He said that though the earlier two shift format of 8-12 am and 3pm-5pm had more working hours, out was less than the current straight shift.

Manager Abdilahi also paid tribute to his predecessor Hon Ali Saeed Raygal whom he credited with enabling current success, having pulled the state printer from doldrums of operational obscurity to a vibrant public institution that is now not only competing successfully with private printers but taking business away from them.

The SPA boss who says that employees are now receiving their salaries at the end of the month on a regular basis also commended them for their diligence to duty that has been all other developments possible, "I promise SPA personnel that I shall strive to ensure that their welfare is up to standards thus improved productivity" Said Manager Abdilahi who recently installed Surveillance cameras at the SPA.

On the issue of the non-operational machine that used to print the government owned newspaper published by Dawan Media Group-DMG, the SPA manager informed that several attempts to rehabilitate the machine have not succeeded because it is an old model one thus lacks of spare parts.

He revealed that one of his main plan is to acquire a new modern A3 printer thus resume printing the DMG newspapers of Dawan news (Somali) and The Horn Tribune (English) that are now printed by a private contractor in Hargeisa at great cost, said he, "It is our duty at the SPA to service the government in all its print needs which include the Dawan Media Newspapers thus our determination to avail suitable machinery"
