Governor Jiinyare ordered the arrestsLAS ANOD (Somalilandsun) – The mayor of Las anod and his deputy are under detention at the town's central police station.

Mayor Keyse Mohamed Hussein and his deputy Ahmed Aden Elmi will spend the night in police custody on orders of the Sool regional governor Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ali 'Jiinyare'.

Governor Jiinyare ordered the arrest of the two Las anod local council civic leaders on corruption related charges that are yet to be elaborated on.

Mayor Keyse and deputy mayor Ahmed who on arrival to work at the Las anod council headquarters were visible shocked to find police manning the locked doors of their offices and the subsequent demands for them to accompany the heavily armed police officers to the central station where they are currently being held.

Unconfirmed reports from Las anod the arrest of the civic leaders by the governor was with the acquiesce of the interior minister Hon. Mohamed Nuur Arale 'Duur'.

Neither the Sool regional in Las anod nor the central government in Hargeisa has issued any statement pertaining to the imprisonment of the civic leaders.

The arrest of the mayor and his deputy by the governor comes in the heels of the confiscation of an assortment of medical supplies meant for Taleeh district hospital by Governor Jiinyare.

At the same time, this is a landmark action as it is the first time for corruption allegations to be made against public officials in Sool region especially the town of Las anod the capital city of the region which notorious for civil servant assassinations.
