Somalilandsun- According to the Constitution all presidents and their deputies are provided with permanent residencies once they leave office
This constitutional stipulation was put in place by late president Mohamed Ibrahim Egal and after receiving 97% approval from Somalilanders his predecessor and former deputy Dahir Rayale Kahin is beneficiary.
The Vice President is in the UDUB party administration of Rayale Kahin, Ahmed Yusuf Yasin is also beneficiary while current leaders, president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo and VP Sayli have beautiful and big mansions awaiting them once they live office.
But for Late Mohamed Ibrahim Egal who as president fronted drafting of the overwhelmingly approved constitution that also dictates a permanent membership at the Guurti, Somaliland’s upper chamber of parliament, the issue of a state provided house is nought.
Today the presumed residence of the late president in Goljano estate of Hargeisa is a only a large compound with a deprecate one room house surrounded by mighty bushes
While we shy off posting photographs of the Rayale, Ahmed Yusuf already in occupation or the ultra modern ones awaiting the retirement of Silanyo and Sayli the forget Egal policy can be ascertained by the two floors rented offices of the Somaliland political parties registration and verification committee-PPR&VR.
For whatever it is worth for both citizens and government that continually ignore or destroy the history of somaliland something needs doing at the resident of late president Mohamed Ibrahim Egal.
In the future generation s to come devoid of any national history apart from on that of “Wahanahanjirte SNM” will never forgive us if memorable monuments like the “ Maqaahida Inanta” and legendary figures like late president Egal are dumped to the dustbin.
For those of us quick to jump from some clan driven purposes , this article does not in any way insinuate that the family of late Egal are paupers thence in need of charity, NO, it is just what it is, both an appeal and demand for implementation of constitutional dictates as well as preservation of.national history
Though the second president , late Mohamed Haji Ibrahim Egal is considered as the father of Modern day Somaliland
