BURAO (Somalilandsun) – Former Somaliland Minister of labour and social affairs the late Dr. Abdi aw Dahir Ali was laid to rest in Burao town on 7th April 2016.
The deceased who passed away in the Toghdeer regional capital following a massive heart attack on the 5th April was given a state burial attended by senior government officials, politicians. Traditional and religious leaders as well as ordinary citizens.
Among those attending the Late Dr Abdi Aw Dahir Ali state burial included the Somaliland Vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli, speaker of parliament cum Wadani Party leader Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro
Acknowledging that the deceased was a rarely creative and frontfore politician of the country speakers who also extended condolences to the Family, relatives and friends if the Departed also termed the Surgeon turned politician as selfless citizen whose over two decades service to the nation shall remain etched in history.
Following the unexpected demise of the Doctor turned politician a number of personalities among the Somaliland president Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo and Speaker of parliament cum Wadani party leader Abdirahman Irro extended condolences
In his message of Condolences sent to the Family, relatives and friends of the lets Dr Aw Dahir President Silanyo in his own behalf, that of the government and people of Somaliland stated that the deceased was in the forefront for the struggle for freedom and nationhood of Somaliland.
The head of state who worked closely with the departed also touched on his lengthily political association leading to him appointing Dr Abdi Aw Dahir to his cabinet, president Silanyo further acknowledged that the late Aw Dahir was a medical surgeon of reckon.
During his tenure as a senior political appointee in the Silanyo administration the late Dr Abdi AW Dahir held positions as Minister of Livestock as well as minister of Labour and social affairs respectively.
Similarly the speaker of Somaliland parliament Abdirahman Mohamed Abdilahi Irro who led a high level delegation of senior Wadani party officials to the home of the deceased said that the country has lost a great citizen who served with distinction as both a political leader and Medical doctor.
The departed politician was among the group of senior Somaliland politicians who led by former presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali resigned from the administration of President Silanyo in protest against the sole candidature of Muse Behi as unopposed Kulmiye party presidential candidate in elections slated for March 2017.
A few days before his death, the late Abdi Aw Dahir was among five renegades purged from the membership of ruling Kulmiye party.
