HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – “I thank citizens of Somaliland for continued observance of peaceful co-existence”
This was stated by President Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo at the Egal international airport in Hargeisa where he also informed that he is visiting Ireland on official duties.
Stressing that the republic of Somaliland is continuously looking for new partners while strengthening existing ones, the head of state said his current visit comes after an official invitation from the European country.
“During my stay in Ireland I shall engage with the president and government officials of the host country in discussions related to bi-lateral relations”
Said president Silanyo while informing that Ireland has shown an interest in establishing tangible relations and pursuant discussions with its president and government officials in Dublin shall revolve around the statehood of Somaliland.
According to president Silanyo deliberations with his Iris counterpart Michael D Higgins and other government officials in Dublin will have a specifically focus to quest for recognition, diplomatic relations and development support among others.
The Somaliland delegation to Ireland that shall detour in Dubai includes first lady Amina Mohamed Jirde, presidency minister Hirsi Haji Ali, the president’s private secretary Ali Ahmed Ali and Somaliland national TV reporter Munir Ahmed Egal.
