Somalilandsun – In a decade’s span the Somaliland civil service has enhanced its service delivery curtsey of a cadre of skilled personnel.
The skills improvement has been facilitated by the Civil Service institute-CSI a joint venture between UNDP and Somaliland’s Civil Service Commission ten years ago.
This was revealed in a press statement issued on the occasion of CSI 10th Anniversary commemorations in Hargeisa where Celebrations were officially kicked-off by the Somaliland Vice president Abdirahman Abdilahi Sayli flanked by senior UNDP official.
According to the institution’s Director Mr. Guled Suleiman Ahmed, the citizens of Somaliland are beholden to UNDP for support in establishing the now fully Civil Service institute.
The institution which also receives support from the European Commission, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and UK AID has over its decade of existence graduated hundreds of civil servants after training focused on service delivery mechanisms, financial management, strategic management, and results oriented management.
The UNDP With the support of the generous donors and its Somali Institutional Development Project has been supporting capacity development with Government of Somaliland strongly focusing on the ‘core of government’.
This was informed participants of the 10th anniversary by UNDP Head of Area Office Hargeisa Sergei Pushkarev .
Applauding the institute which is now financially independent with the support of the Somaliland government,” Sergei Pushkarev said “CSI is a remarkable success for both UNDP and Somaliland government in terms of sustainability and capacity building.
