LONDON (Somalilandsun) – Residents of Sanaag region in the Diaspora are ready to help construct the Burao Erigavo Road.
This development follows a meeting between the Mayor of Erigavo in Sanaag region Councillor Ismail Haji Nuur and Diaspora based citizens originating from the region in London.
During the Oxford House meeting in which Mayor Ismail gave a detailed briefing on the ongoing project to construct the 370 Kms road connecting Erigavo town and the rest of the country via Burao said financial support is crucial.
“Construction has started in four locations namely Afmadobe in Toghdeer region and in Erigavo, El’afweine and Gara’adag of Sanaag region” said Haji Nuur
Urging support towards the most ambitious project Somaliland has embarked since it reclaimed independence 23 years ago the Erigavo Mayor who thanked president Silanyo for initiating the project said sufficient funds are yet to be availed.
The Mayor upon reiterating his appeal for donations towards the Erigavo Burao road construction said connecting Erigavo to the rest of the of the country is very important in terms of enhancing economic growth in Somaliland and uplifting livelihoods in Sanaag region.
The Erigavo Mayor extended his and those of Sanaag region residents and Somalilanders at large to the British somalilanders of Sanaag origin for their pledge to actively participate with donations towards construction of the 375 Kms Erigavo Burao road.
Also briefing the meeting with specific technical details of roads construction status was Mohamed Ahmed Liban who is a member of the president Silanyo established Burao Erigavo Roads construction funds collection committee.
Speaking on Behalf of the Sanaagians resident in the United Kingdom and making the roads support pledge were Farah Elmi Ali, Hussein Hasan Muse, Nassir Abdi Haruun, Mustafa Salah H Hasan, Anwar Adan Mohamed, and Ahmed Saeed Ahmed ‘Magalo’, among others.
