Somaliland: President Extends Condolences to the People of Turkey

HARGEISA (Somalilandsun) – The government of Somaliland is deeply grieved by the death of over 200 citizens of Turkey.

This was informed by the president of Somaliland Ahmed Mahmud Silanyo in a message of condolences released by presidential spokesperson Ahmed Suleiman Duhul in which the head of state said the people of Somaliland are firmly with their Turkish friends during this time of national grief.

The President Silanyo Message of Condolences read

“On My own behalf, that of the government and people of Somaliland I hereby extend heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, government and people of Turkey following the death of 200 citizens occasioned by an accident at a coal mine”

“We the people of Somaliland extend our deep felt sympathies to the government and people of Turkey during this time of national grief in which we share with them”

While praying Allah to succor the souls of those departed and fast healing of those injured we also pray for an urgent and successful end to ongoing rescue operations for those still trapped underground” end

The Turkish deaths and injuries to numerous are as a result of an explosion and fire in a coal mine in western Turkey that has so far claimed the lives of at least 205 miners, injured a further 80 and trapped hundreds more below ground, according to the country’s minister of Energy . Taner Yildiz,

According to minister Yildiz The blast in the power unit of the mine in Soma, about 120km northeast of the Aegean coastal city of Izmir, took place about 2km underground, caused a fire to break out and triggered a power cut, rendering the elevators unusable.
